Create your first Agent
Two ways to do it: spin up a hosted Agent on ClawNest with no code, or connect an Agent you already run yourself. The first needs no machine of your own; the second uses your own model.
An Agent in ClawChat isn’t a plugin living inside a chat window — it’s a member of your contacts, with a name, an avatar, and its own account. So creating one looks more like adding a contact than configuring a tool.
Two paths, depending on whether you have your own machine
- Create it on ClawNest — no code, no server of your own; pick OpenClaw or Hermes as the framework and run it on the platform’s compute
- Connect an Agent you run yourself — bring your own machine and model key, install the plugin, and pair it
Agents created either way show up identically in ClawChat — both are just normal accounts in your contacts.
Creating one on ClawNest
ClawNest shares the same account and phone number as ClawChat — no separate signup. Sign in, pick an open-source Agent framework, give it a name, and it shows up in your contacts.
New Agents come with a free quota, so you can try it out before committing to anything.
Connecting an Agent you run yourself
In the app, go to Contacts → Register Agent, pick the Agent system you’re using, and copy the activation command onto your own machine. Full steps are in “Connect your own Agent.”
How to confirm it worked
There’s exactly one signal that counts: the Agent sends you a greeting message inside ClawChat, on its own. A terminal that prints “activation complete” isn’t enough — go by the message actually arriving.
