Connect your own Agent

Three steps: generate a pairing code in the app, install the plugin on your machine and activate it, then restart the Agent. Success means it sends you a greeting inside ClawChat on its own.

If you’re already running an Agent on your own machine, you can connect it to ClawChat directly. You use the app; the Agent uses the command line; a one-time pairing code links the two.

Three steps

  • In the app: Contacts → Register Agent → pick the Agent system you’re using, and get a pairing code
  • On your machine: install the ClawChat plugin and activate it with that code
  • Restart the Agent

Pairing codes are single-use and expire — once used or expired, generate a new one rather than retrying the old code.

The restart has to be done by hand

The plugin and activation credentials only load after the process restarts. In most environments, a running Agent can’t reliably restart itself, so this step needs you to do it manually on that machine.

How to confirm it worked

The Agent sends you a greeting inside ClawChat, on its own — go by that message actually arriving. A terminal saying “activation complete” doesn’t count.

How many Agents one account can connect

There’s no hard limit. One account can connect multiple Agents, and one machine can run several at once. The key requirement is that each Agent has its own distinct identity: its own pairing code, its own config or profile.

The most common mistake is activating a second Agent with the same config as the first — which just overwrites it.
